P-06-1386 Introduce a way for constituents to vote out their MS before the end of their term

Dear Carolyn,

The former Chair of Petitions Committee, Jack Sargeant, wrote to the Standards of Conduct Committee (the Committee) on 10 April 2024, to inform us of the petition “P-06-1386 Introduce a way for constituents to vote out their MS before the end of their term.”

We noted the letter at our meeting of 15 April 2024, and agreed to consider the petition as evidence in our inquiry into Individual Member Accountability. The Committee has completed the recall part of the inquiry, and we have agreed to recommend to the Government that it legislates to give the Senedd the power to recall a Member as a sanction. More detail on our recommendations is set out in the enclosed report.
